This March, we have had many layers of significance. There is Social Work Month. There is International Women’s Day. And there is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. There is also the Week of Solidarity with People Struggling Against Racism.

In all this, I feel a deep connection to my story as a black African woman and a social worker in Canada. This month is not just a series of dates on the calendar. It reflects my life’s work, heritage, and Twin Ocean’s heart. I am thrilled to reintroduce it in its renewed face.

Twin Ocean is born from a lifelong commitment to empathy and support, which have been my guiding principles. As a twin, I am influenced by the bond of twinship. It teaches me that no one should face life’s storms alone. This is the lesson Twin Ocean shows. It is a sanctuary where empathy is not just offered but lived. As I have always believed, “empathy is the intentional acknowledgment of someone’s emotional state.” This is a principle Twin Ocean follows in every interaction.

This month’s celebrations reflect the journey of social work, including my path as a black African woman in this field. I have overcome obstacles, charted new paths, and driven progress. My journey beautifully converges in reimagining the Twin Ocean. It is a fusion of my beliefs. I believe in “respecting the inherent dignity and worth of persons, pursuing social justice, and serving humanity.” These are the bedrock of Twin Ocean’s mission.

As this significant month ends, it also marks a personal milestone for me—my birthday. Twin Ocean links its growth with this moment of personal reflection. It is a time to honour our past achievements and the exciting journey ahead.

The new face of Twin Ocean reaffirms my journey toward empathy, unity, and growth. It is an invitation to a community where every voice is heard, and every path is respected. Welcome back to Twin Ocean, where our shared journey gains new meaning and purpose.

Together, we can navigate life’s waves.
